Homeschool Groups
It's no secret that homeschooling has the stigma of producing socially awkward kids which couldn't be further from the truth. Social opportunities are everywhere, and you don't need to go to school or a group to build meaningful friendships. However, some homeschoolers do find it easier to connect by joining a group. There are lots of different groups for homeschoolers. Here are some of the different options:
>> Field Trip Groups: These groups meet up anywhere from once a week to once a month to go on field trips together. Depending on the group field trips may be local or worldwide if it's a travel group!

>> Park Meet Ups: These groups typically meet weekly or bimonthly at local parks. These groups have more of a relaxed set up where kids play, and parents mingle.

>> Nature Based: These groups focus on getting kids outside to learn in nature and are similar to meet up groups with a relaxed setting for parents and kids.
Local Nature Based Groups
>> Hybrid/Co-op Program (Academic based): These programs are academic based and similar to part time school. Classes are taught by teachers or tutors and are offered once a week or several days a week. Children are dropped off and many times this is an all-day program. Curriculum is often selected by the program or academy and parents assist students on their days home complete work assigned by their teacher. These programs generally charge tuition like a private school.
Local Academic Based Hybrid/ Co-op Programs
>> Co-op Program (Enrichment/supplemental based): These programs which are also known as co-ops in parts of the country are elective and supplemental based. Classes are often taught by parents or parents who used to be teachers. Classes are often offered one to two days a week. The majority of these programs are not drop off and encourage family involvement in the daily group. Classes are a la carte and families have the option to attend all day or just for a class. Your core curriculum is selected by the parent and completed at home. Children attend supplemental classes like creative writing and specialized science to aid their at home learning and provide a group class experience.

Homeschool Events
There are many events for homeschoolers offered in our area. These events are typically offered weekly, monthly or bimonthly. Attending homeschool events is a great way to get connected into our local homeschool community.
